Inkwells on Ebay

Ebay features hundreds of different Inkwells at any one time. The problem with that is finding the time to search through everything looking for the particular ones in which you are interested.

Fortunately, the inkwells fall into several large categories which reduce them down to manageable numbers. Below are shown 25 inkwell auctions which are due to end the soonest. No effort has been made to sort or select them in any way.

If you are only interested in a particular kind of inwell look at the links to the left and find the category which is the best fit for your interests. When you click on that link the page returned will only have items which are in the category selected.

We run these searches ourselves and are always looking for way to improve the quality of the results returned. We try to eliminate the obvious bad listings, without eliminating the chance to find "sleepers" where the seller may have misspelled a word or made some other mistake which makes the item hard to find and a bargain purchase likely.

I think it is hard to understand how fundamental to all literary activity inkwells were; and not that many years ago either. As I sit here typing into the computer it's hard to imagine what it would have been like to write with liquid ink, have to blot the ink dry and have no possibility whatsoever of erasing. For people like me, the absence of a spell checker would have been a big problem too.

In fact, things have changed so much that in less than 100 years we have gone from universal use of ink and inkwells to articles on the web which question the need for schools to teach cursive writing!

Inkwells are interesting for the materials they are made from, the shapes they were created in, their wide availability, and their continued interest to collectors. I suspect some folks collect only inkwells while others collect period writing instruments from a particular culture or place in time. The variety of inkwell collections is unlimited.
